In 1941 ,Les Jenkins' Father, Tom, bought himself a brand new Frances Barnett 98cc Power Bike. Tom Jenkins paid dealer Alex Thom £45 for the bike and, says Les, "always complained that the dealer didn't give him a penny back for luck." However, the lack of the superstitious penny appears to have not done the bike any harm. Les is pictured here with it at the recent Classic Car and Bike show held at the South Wales Police ground, Bridgend. In it's early years it was used by Tom Jenkins to get back and forth to work at the Royal Ordinance Factory. Now, more than half a century later, it is still in perfect working order. Sadly Les passed away but he will be missed by all in the Bridgend Club
